How Will the Pitt Panthers Do this Year?

The 2015 college football season has officially arrived, and in week one Pitt was able to hold on for a 45-37 victory over Youngstown State.  It was nice to start the season off with a victory, but unfortunately the win came at a very high cost--star tailback James Conner, last year's ACC Offensive Player of the Year, was lost for the season after tearing the MCL in his right knee.  This is a huge blow to the Panthers' chances in 2015, as they entered the season with moderate expectations, and now will have to deal with the loss of one of the nation's best players at his position.

How Will Pitt Fare From Here on Out?

First-year coach Pat Narduzzi now most certainly has his work cut out for him.  It will be his responsbility to keep the team focused and enthused after losing their best player in the season's first game.  This will likely be his biggest challenge this year, and getting the team to respond will be more important than anything he does from an X's and O's standpoint.

The Good News for Pitt

Redshirt freshman Qadree Ollison, who came into the game listed as the third string running back, ended up running for 207 yards and a touchdown against Youngstown State.  His performance was record breaking, and perhaps provided some hope for the team moving forward.  Pitt is solid at QB, will continue to field a dominating offensive line, and defensively, touts a highly talented secondary.  If Qadree Ollison proves capable of filling Conner's shoes, the Panthers could still be successful in 2015.
