The freezing temperatures can seem like the perfect excuse to stay at home and forget about your training, which can represent a major setback in your progress. Training during winter can be difficult, however being prepared for this weather can make things easier. For this reason at Athletic Republic in Pittsburgh, we would like to share a few useful ideas, so nothing stands between you and your goals during this season.

Prepare!

You will need to have the right gear to train under the winter weather. If you are planning to go for a run outside, be sure to dress in layers and keep your head and hands covered and choose synthetic fabrics to keep the moisture away. Also, it’s crucial that you wear traction devices to prevent falls and injuries. Don’t forget to read our guide on essential supplies to have a successful training session.

Diversify

You don’t have to go outside to exercise and there are many other available options . If you are a runner, a treadmill is a good idea to train in your home. Also, there are other indoor facilities and sports that can boost different skills, like swimming.

Other Measures

Keep in mind that a dry winter means quicker dehydration, so don’t forget to drink water to keep your body’s core temperature. Also, remember to stretch your muscles before your workout, as injuries are a common problem during this season.

We still have a few weeks of intense cold ahead, but this shouldn’t get in the way of achieving your goals. These simple but effective ideas will help you stay in great condition and continue your progression.
